Hiya.
My name’s Michael Harvey and I'm Luc’s dad.
The past 12 months have been a real rollercoaster ride for Melinda & I but things will hopefully settle down soon.
I’ve seen & learnt so much in this time but the biggest thing is how much goodness there is in people around us. So many people have been there for us – friends with e-mails & SMS messages, strangers with favours unasked, Westpac with my work, or guys at my local pub with words of encouragement (Sports Bar, Darlinghurst Road).
As a first time parent there is much to worry about but to have a Hypoplast kid, the concerns are multiplied. One thing it has done is to make us enjoy every moment with Luc as if it was his last……we never know if it might be. I think, and I maybe wrong, many new parents never get the chance to enjoy all of their moments with their newborns……they’re missing out.
Luc is doing very, very well thanks to the staff at RCH Melbourne and we all hope that this continues.
Finally, I want to make a special mention of a family we have got to know at Ronald McDonald house – the Rossons: Karen, Icaro, Tim, & Samuel. Even though they have a toddler with his own heart problems, the amount of time & effort they have expended to support and assist us, especially Melinda when I have been in Sydney, has been phenomenal. Many, many thanks.
Michael.
